Try left his home in the hope of escaping his responsibilities, and he convinced himself that his leaving was the fault of a controlling father, King Twy Dunkin and his dutiful and well controlled identical twin brother, Ty. However him blaming his family was far from the truth…When Try Dunkin’s father covered up the death of Rachel, his beloved friend, Try simply didn’t want to have anything to do with his father or the Doeknobian throne. Try magically traveled from Doeknobia and hid in America where he blended right in as Mr. All American. He open his own furniture store, got married, bought himself a nice home in a Chicago suburb, and was now raising two beautiful children with his wife Lois. But more importantly, his past life, his magical life was just that…a past life.


But the secret is out! Try Dunkin is forced to tell his wife and their children, 10 year old Danny Dunkin and 12 year old Dannel the truth when his father, twin brother, and the elders show up at his front door in the form most commonly used by Doeknobians…as MICE. Try is forced to return to Doeknobia when he learns that Patrobas, leader of the Aegrog Dastards, is getting ready for war in hopes of taking castle Dinefel and the Dunkin throne, as well as ‘The Seven Seal Book of Doeknobia.’ When Lois is attack by Patrobas, Try knows that his Bald Eagle Avenue home is no longer a safe haven…he’ll have to take his family back home, a place he never intended on returning. What Try doesn’t realize, is that this trip back home is only the beginning…not for him…for Danny.
Danny is chosen by the late King Tym, to keep the secrets of the Seven Seal Book of Doeknobia, a sacred book which holds the key to destroying the Dastards. Danny grows in his magical power, and he and his sister and cousins are sent on a three day test by King Twy. Just as they entered Dables Forest Danny looks back and sees something he never expected, something no one, but he can see; a Dastard in its natural form. He tells the others, but before they know it they on the ground talking to Baskin, the leader of Quicken, a tiny Doeknobian clan, who live under the floor of the forest. Before Danny can explain to Baskin what he has seen, Baskin sends them on their quest. They barely survive, but they do survive. Danny is finally able to explain to Baskin about the Dastards, and he sends them home to tell King Twy and their fathers.


Danny also discovers that he is the only Doeknobian in all of Doeknobia able to detect a cloaked Dastards with a simple touch when an elder named, Elder Philogus touches him. This revelation scares Danny, but he quickly realizes that he isn't alone. His father, grandfather, and uncle also saw the cloaked Dastard through Danny.


When the Seven Seal Book of Doeknobia is stolen out of Independence Hall. Try, King Twy, and Ty devise a plan to capture the cloaked elder and rescue the sacred book; while Danny, his sister Dannel, and their cousins, David and Dana devise their own plan.


Try, his father, and twin brother are able to capture the cloaked Elder Philogus with the help of Danny. They learn the location of the real Elder Philogus and the Seven Seal Book of Doeknobia. Danny, his sister, and cousins eavesdrop from behind one of the many secret passageways, and learn the location of the Elder Philogus and the Seven Seal Book of Doeknobia. Danny and David convince their sisters into stealing some of Doctor Dashery’s invisibility potion.


Danny, his sister, and cousins sneak out of castle Dinefel and put their rescue plan into action.


Danny and the others make their way to the safety of Dables Forest, where their journey takes them to the Land between the Lakes. There they encounter the Agas, a major ‘little’ problem who threaten their rescue efforts, when Danny accidently injures one of these flying creatures. Baskin comes to their rescue.


Danny, his sister, and cousins are able to rescue of the real Elder Philogus and the sacred book, but when they return home to castle Dinefel with the real Elder Philogus and the sacred book, they behold a sight inside the castle that leaves them speechless.
